Okay I finished my rewite for the synopsis of Off Leash and must fire that off to people asap. Even my critique partners liked it so that's say a lot. Well, last night I decided to sit down and map out the 2nd book in my Nitty Gritty series I've called Off Limit. I am really glad I did this. For two reasons. One, my characters are now real and chatting inside my head and two, I know this is going to be a hard book to write. Off Limit's about a 15 year-old girl, people casually meet in book one, Off Leash, who tried to slit her wrists at a party. Off Limit picks up with my Lindsey gal moved from Halifax to TO - new life, new so-called perfect role she's supposed to play but she's got a dirty little secret - her step-father is molesting her. I know, I cringed when I started writing this but it's a story I need to get out. I really love Lindsey now and her so-not best friend but fill-in subsitute friend called Megan. Picture perfect girls are not so perfect and who the hell wants to be perfect! My goal today is to map out secondary characters like the prick step-father - who is totally formed in my head - and the heart-throb teenager at school who's in charge of the anti-drug committee not because he wants the job but because he has it (again only he knows that). I honestly think secrets make up teen life. I know they did in my own.
My goal for nano is Off Limit - 50,000 words in one month. I am soooo going to do it! Send your positive energy my way, please.
I'm still looking into self-publishing my Siren's Lure story but I've got to tell you there are tons of pictures that would make a perfect cover...now I just need to figure out how to do all this.
